Mr. Closz
Rory Closz holds a Bachelor of Music in K-12 Music Education, with an emphasis in Choral Education from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. While at WMU, he was a member of the top choral ensemble University Chorale as well as the early music ensemble Collegium Musicum. While a member of the University Chorale he travelled on multiple national tours and competed for multiple awards. He is a recipient of the First Place Prize in the 2010 National Association of Teachers of Singing award.
Mr. Closz is a graduate of Mona Shores where he participated in many years of music ensembles, including the Mona Shores Orchestra and the Mona Shores Choir programs. With the orchestra he travelled to China, Ireland and England and competed in numerous national competitions. He was also a member of the Allegros for four years, participating in the musicals A Chorus Line (2006), Les Miserables (2007), Bye Bye Birdie (2008), and Little Shop of Horrors (2009) in which he played the lead "Seymour Krelborn" during his senior year.
Besides teaching the choir classes at Mona Shores Middle School, Mr. Closz also directs the After School Choir and the Allegrettos musical each year. He also helps with the summer program "Camp Break-a-Leg" which is put on through the Reeths-Puffer Theatre Program.
Mr. Closz is also an Eagle Scout through Boy Scouts of America Troop 1053, of which he is also a Troop Committee Member and Merit Badge Counselor.
