Expectations
-Absences: It is the student’s responsibility to make up work they missed. Students can access all Warm Ups in Google Classroom or Schoology. Absence from a concert must have prior parent contact to be considered excused.
-SING!: In Choir students receive a large part of their grade through participation in warm ups, sight singing and song rehearsal. It is expected that all students use their voice as an instrument in the MSMS Choirs.
-Beginning and end of class: Students should be in their seats when the bell rings. Being late for class will result in a tardy. The teacher will dismiss students at the end of class, THE BELL DOES NOT DISMISS STUDENTS.
-Discipline procedures: Students who choose not to follow class or school rules may be entered into the school disciplinary system, following the procedure below:

- Verbal warning from teacher.
- Parent contact from teacher.
- Student detention. Parents and administration informed of detention.

- label and sing notes with solfege names and Kodály counting
- count themselves in when reading a piece of music
- identify and demonstrate the length of notes in rhythm
- find their first note when singing from written music
- find their place (and part) in the music
- use correct musical vocabulary
- *Students will be tested through spoken, sung, written and electronic testing.
By the end of the year 7/8th Grade MSMS Choir Students will be able to:
- develop the singing voice through active participation
- develop the ear and sing in two- and three- part harmony
- sight-sing and read music at primary/intermediate level set by the MSVMA
- respond to music aesthetically, intellectually and emotionally.
- use correct musical vocabulary and notation
- support the musical life of the community and encourage others to do so
- *Students will be tested through spoken, sung, written and electronic testing.
